4.3E Bricked Wii, no Priiloader, BootMii as IOS and a driver chip. Need help

So I bricked my 4.3E Wii. I'm pretty sure I have no Priiloader and I know I don't have BootMii installed as boot2. I bought a WiiKey 3 which is exactly the same as a WiiKey Fusion, and has the same functions. But I am not sure what to do next. I don't know if I have the trucha bug installed or not.

Can anyone guide me?

Thanks.

Wii screen doesn't show

Hi,

I had a working wii 4.1 on which I had installed a preloader (I don't remember if it was Priiloader) to start up the wii directly in WiiFlow 3.0. As WiiFlow 3.0 had some issues I decided this evening to try to update to version 4.1, so I downloaded the new version and substituted the files from the old version. The Wii tried to start up WiiFlow 4.1, but suddenly the screen looked weird, and then everything disappeared from the screen.

And now nothing happens on the screen when I turn on the wii. I can't even open the preloader by pressing 'reset' while turning on the Wii.

I have a nand backup. I just can't find a way to access it, as the preloader doesn't work.

Is there a way I can re-mod the wii completely, or boot to a sd card for instance?

Pleease help :-)

Thanks in advance

Hi Guy's

I have joined just to get some answers regarding a problem I am now having with my UN-MODDED Wii, I am in the UK but this is a NTSC/U/C unit and is an earlier model I have owned from new.

This morning I received I new (non official) nun-chuck (from Amazon) a proceeded to test it (Mario Galaxy) all was well and I played it for a couple of minutes and turned the unit off, This evening I turned the Wii on the health and safety screen appeared I pressed the A button and as the screen faded out there was a slight pause before going completely black and black it stayed, I powered it down and back on again the same thing!

I have removed all cables and have left the unit for a while and tried again but still the same, does anybody have any ideas

Edit: Just a quick update it will allow me to go into Maintenance Mode if that helps and shows I am running Ver. 4.3U

Bricked Wii Wiikey2 Question

First off I have come to this site for a few years now, never post, but the wealth of information is awesome. So thank you for all the hard work.

I have soft modded a number of Wii's using Mauifrogs soft mod guide. I have never had a bricked wii. I have never used a mod chip before, but I was looking for a used Wii to put in my spare bedroom and I came across this:

Wii console with Wiikey2 Solderless chip. Needs NAND flash, currently not booting. $40.00 obo

I emailed saying I was interested and the response i received asked if I wanted the wiikey with the wii. No other information is given.

Is it possible to get this thing running again if I purchase this and follow one of the guides? Should I take the WiiKey? What is the best guide to follow?

Thanks.

B.L.I.N.D. - The new way to fix bricks! - by JoostinOnline

What is B.L.I.N.D. for?
Ways to fix region bricks have been around for a long time. As long as you can boot up Any Region Changer and see the screen, you can fix it. But what if you can't see the screen to fix the setting? While most TV's in Europe support both PAL and NTSC output, very few North American TV's support PAL. That means if you changed the video region of your Wii from NTSC to PAL or MPAL, you will almost certainly get a No Signal screen when loading Any Region Changer.

Unlike other apps, B.L.I.N.D. doesn't care what setting you have. It will always force the display to NTSC, meaning almost every TV will be able to display it. You no longer have to blindly press buttons and hope you fix the settings. Without seeing what you are changing, you could easily make it worse.

What kind of bricks can B.L.I.N.D. fix?
  • Theme Brick
  • Region Brick
  • Banner Brick
  • Full Brick (only if you have bootmii as boot2!)
  • Bad AV Encoder (only sometimes)
  • Korean Brick - 003 error

Power button on remote not turning off/turning on wii

Something strange is happening with my softmodded wii. The power button doesn't turn off my wii when I hold it down, nor does it turn it back on. It puts it in this weird "standby" mode where I can't do anything except go up to the console itself, hold down the power button until it turns off, and then turn it back on. Also, the controllers never seem to go into standby, killing my battery life.

Any thoughts/advice on this? Thank you very much in advance!

Bricked wii, netflix won't fix. Unknown cause

Hello,

I have a wii that I bought broken from someone on kijiji for 10 dollars so I figured it couldn't hurt to have a go at fixing it, plus the main reason I got it was because I also wanted to solder in my wiikey mod chip that I had lying around from when I accidentally ordered the wrong chip. Anyway the mod chip is not the problem I know it works fine because I tested the drive on my other wii after I had installed the chip.

I had followed Mauifrogs guide last time I had purchased a broken unit online and it worked like a charm following the netflix method. This time however I put my copy of netflix in the wii and booted it using the gamecube controller method. It starts up and gives me the option of quitting or edit my network settings. When I click edit the settings the disc spins and for about half a second you hear that wii channel sound in the background then the dreaded "system files are corrupt" message appears forcing me to turn it off. If I select quit instead of editing the network settings, you see the wii channel shadow for a second then it hangs on black screen again forcing a restart.

I do not believe this console was softmodded or anything before, the disc drive only blinks once when starting up and it is presently on 4.2U. I didn't think I would be able to boot the "autoboot anyregion changer" disc but I made a copy of it anyway and tried it out. From the recovery menu when I put the disc in it spins for a few seconds then stops and the 4.2U stays at the bottom (I am assuming this is because I don't have the trucha bug).

I should also note that the netflix disc will boot without going through recovery menu. When i start up the console with the disc in the drive I get the health and safety warning; press the A button screen. If I don't touch anything netflix will boot up the same way it would through the recovery menu, however the result is the same. As soon as I hit the A button after that warning screen with no disc in drive I am presented with the corrupt system files message.

I have been digging through information and couldn't find anything so I was hoping to get some advice here. I was planning on going out and picking up a game with 4.3U and seeing I could fix it through an update (just wanted an oppinion first if that would most likely work).

If anyone has some ideas about this that would be great.

Wii Yellow Light!?

Ok so, I've had a hacked Wii for a long time, it's soft modded, so I was able to have all that wii homebrew good stuff installed, so after finding it in my closet I went back to it, it's been a long time since I did all of this. I installed the CIOS, I already had homebrew channel and some custom wads installed. but the other day when I was putting games on my HDD it worked fine no problems at all, then I put some more games on, but that decided not to work for me. so I thought it was my CIOS, scanned around, installed some other ones, still no sign of work. Then I found this program, Dot Mii (i think it was called) so at this point i'm just messing around, experimentation, and installed an IOS that said in the description (Used for Pirates). I'm not sure if this is was a joke looking back on it but now, my Wii just has a yellow light like the connect 24 light, I can turn it on and off but no signal through my TV. I'm not sure if it's bricked, I tried the other methods that you put files into your SD to revive the bricking, that doesn't work either, even the un-pluging for 5 mins doesn't work. So, if anybody has any experiences in this, I would love their help, sorry about the long post, I just like to give the full story so they don't have to reply with the usual questions like " did you unplug it" and others like that, and I already know that I'm an idiot for doing what I did :P

Semi-bricked Wii question.

Hey guys, long time lurker, first time posting. A friend recently gave me his Wii, as it was broken according to him.

Background info:

  • Serial LU 585650***, unknown serial in the boot2 range
  • GC2-D2E drive
  • Recovery mode shows 4.3U
  • Have not attempted to boot into maintenance mode
  • Frozen at Health and Safety screen
  • No Priiloaders installed

I know nothing about the history of this Wii, weather it's modded or unmodded. No priiloaders are on here- as the reset method does nothing. The blue light flashes one time when starting up the Wii. I am able to boot into recovery mode via a gamecube controller. It is frozen on the Heath and Safety screen - but I'm unsure if it will go past there as I do not have a wii remote/nunchuck/controller.

I plan to soft mod this, but after reading through this forum, I'm not sure where to start with my situation. A few questions - Is there any hope in modding this unit, whether it be softmodd, drivekey, etc? If so, can you explain my next step.

Thank you in advance

Please help! I Bricked it my Wii

Greetings fellow Wii-hackits!

Hope this finds you Wii-gurus well. :o

So, here is my story....

My Wii was working fine with HomeBrew, USBLoaderGx, and everything else....

Today, however, I decided to install the Opera browser WAD via the WAD Manager & I kept getting the "1029" error. Someone's post on this
site suggested that it could be an incorrect IOS issue. So, I uninstalled ALL my IOS via the WAD Manager & now when I turn on my Wii, I get nothing!

Please help....what should I do?

My nephew was over and for SOME reason, decided to do a system update.

I am on the 4.2u

During this update, It looks like either the system was turned off or the internet stopped being connected.

I now get a black screen. I tried to reinstall 4.2u with dopmii, but it seems to not be working?
I even purchased a used copy of new super mario bros wii to try to that. (connecting gamecube into 4th port and then holding down the d-pad at startup) I still get a black screen.

I just don't know what to do anymore..

Assistance with WiiKey 3 (aka. WiiKey Fusion)

I have a WiiKey 3 installed on my Wii along with the SD Card reader. My problem is, due to the fact my Wii is bricked, I'm trying to unbrick it. I don't have the trucha bug, so I am trying to autoboot Lego Indiana Jones to run Indiana PWNS and fix my Wii. So, I use my SaveMii dongle to get into recovery mode and it displays 4.3E. However, when I have my SD Card already inserted before turning the Wii on and getting to recovery, the 4.3E disappears after 5-10 seconds and I am left with a black screen. Also, when I insert the SD once I am in recovery mode, the 4.3E just stays there and doesn't go away. The same happened when I tried to run Autoboot B.L.I.N.D. Does anyone know what's wrong? I have set the ISO to autoboot via Wii Autoboot Creator. Please help. Thank you

Theme brick, bootmii boot2 installed

Hello,I recently bricked my Wii (Theme Brick :005:, MyMenu), but i was able to get it running (kind of) by using Wad Manager and flashing (proper term?) a system menu from NUSD. The only problem is, it would only boot from the SD Card. After following this guide until the "Backup using BootMii", my wii wont boot at all. Not from the SD, or anything. I followed the guide using the "Already Soft-Modded" spoiler. Once i rebooted from HBC, my wii froze and wont boot. i can probably still boot from the sd card using the same setup i had, but i would like someone to guid me through how to get it to boot without the sd, and get everything set up.

Answers to your questions:

No, i don't have my previous NAND backup (roommate stole the SD Card)
Yes, I can turn on from the Wiimote, But it disconnects.
Yes, I have 2 quick flashes from my disc drive upon "boot" (BootMii is installed as Boot2).
The light turns GREEN/YELLOW (depending on who your asking) when "turned on".
No, I don't have a GCC to use frii-whatever-its-called, nor can i buy one.
Hard-Modding is not an option (no Infectious)
No, I didn't skip any steps.
Yes, I'VE SEARCHED FOR HOURS ON END, EVERYWHERE!!! DON'T tell me to use the search button, im not new to forums.
I've Soft-Modded 1 other Wii and used Ocarina Code Manager. Yes, I'm kind of a noob. I expect to be talked to as such.

Also, any information to help me understand the programming behind the Wii OS would be helpful, what the hell are the functions of the IOS's, why is theming so dangerous, etc, etc.

TIA, Austen

Thank you for the quick response, I followed those instructions from a fresh SD Card, my Wii DOES NOT boot into MMM. Instead, I'm greeted with the health screen, saying "Press A", which boots into the normal Wii OS. Still won't boot without the SD Card.

---EDIT---

Should I retry the same steps through HBC?

Semi-bricked Wii issue: Black Screen on start up, but sounds work?

Okay so I've been wrestling with this issue for half a year now. As far as I'm concerned no one else has had this problem...

I ordered the Japanese version of Rhythm Heaven because I loved it so much more than the english version. As me and a friend were playing a two player mode, it froze at the end. Not thinking much of it, I restarted my Wii just to be greeted with a Black Screen.

The odd thing is that I can hear the menu sounds and for a time I was even able to somehow get it to display the menu, but I don't remember what I did to achieve that anymore... It didn't help much though, because controllers don't work either. Wiimotes don't connect and GameCube controllers don't respond to anything. The Wiimotes can still turn the console on, though.

TL;DR Wii is stuck with a black screen and controllers don't work, but the Wii is still semi-functional. It's just hard to play with when dealing with a black screen and controllers not working.

Recurring corrupted system files error

G'Day All,

I posted a few months ago regarding a problem I had with corrupted system files. At that time I had lost my NAND and had to reformat. After which I was able to soft mod, create a NAND backup, and life was good for about six months.

Then I again got corrupted system files. It was fairly simple to reload the NAND backup and re-soft mod. That was a week ago.

Now it's back. After only one week. Corrupted system files.

I'd rather not be reloading NAND and soft modding every week, so I have two questions:
1. Do we know what the common causes of this problem are?
2. Is there any way I can prevent it?

Thanks for your support.

Bricked Wii or hardware failure?

Hi fellows!

I have black screen wii, and i dont know is it software brick or hardware malfunction (wifi/BT module).

Here is a story:

Softmoded black Wii console (i did this more than 20 times without any problem, so i think i know what i'm doing) with 4.3E sistem menu.

1.I used LETTERBOMB to install HBC, all went fine.
2.Run MMM, install & patch IOS 36, all went fine.
3.Run MMM to remove STUB IOS 200+, all went fine.
4.Run MMM to install cIOS249[38]-d2x-v7-final and cIOS250[57]-d2x-v8-final, all went fine.
4.Used MMM to install Wiiflow StarNight Channel IOS249-WSNW.wad which i'm using all the time. (this was new procedure, 'cause i use
Wannikokos WAD MANAGER 1.7 to install WAD's but hey what can go wrong? )

5. Used MMM to install USBLoaderGX_v3.0_IOS249.wad (channel not forwarder) from USB LOADER GX Google code site (official download).
6. Turned Wii OFF and ON few times, all went fine.
7. Run few games from EXTERNAL USB DRIVE with Wiiflow, everything works normal.
8. Run few games from EXTERNAL USB DRIVE with USB-GX, everything works normal.

9. Now comes tricky part... I ENTER USB-GX SETTINGS PAGE TO DOWNLOAD MISSING COVERS, ENTER PATH TO COVERS (sdcard/config...) page and
WII GOT FROZEN, NO RESPOND FROM CONTROLLER BUTTONS, but CURSOR HAND WORKS. I HARD RESET IT, and NOW IM STUCK AT BLACK SCREEN at boot with NO SOUND
I CAN POWER WII WITH MY CONTROLLER, but after that controller becomes unresponsible.

I dont have PRIILOADER /BOOTMII as boot2 installed or NAND BACKUP. Also I disconnected Wii from power for a few hours but didnt help.

Any suggestions?
