Help extracting a corrupt nand, I'm totally stumped

$

So my softmodded wii is bricked. I can not find my nand backup. It is an early model wii (if that matters). I can get into bootmii which is installed on boot2. My main concern is getting my saves off of the wii. So i booted into bootmii and made a nand backup. The problem is that I can't extract this backup with anything. I tried ShowMiiWads and nandextract. They both get partway through and then there is an error and it crashes. I feel like the nand is probably corrupted. Is there another nand extraction program I can try? Is there a way to have ShowMiiWads just skip the bad files and continue on. Can I fix this in a hex editor or something?

If none of those methods are doable is there a way for me to load a new system menu onto the wii without loosing my saves? There is a guide here for unbricking with boot2 if you don't have a nand backup but it is not working for me. My wii will basically ONLY boot into bootmii, it wont boot when I try to use cboot2 or anything like that.

So I guess basically I either need a way to unbrick my wii without loosing my saves or a way to extract this corrupt nand? I am sure the saves are in there and the odds that the saves are corrupt is slim. I just need a program that will continue the extraction after it hits the corrupt section. Any ideas?

Hello everyone, awesome sight.

Have done some reading and this appears to be what i have to do
http://www.wiihacks.com/bricked-wii-...gs-menu-2.html

But before we move to that let me tell you some background.

I got my hands on a WII that appears to be semi bricked

its in Jap so i cant read anything and when going into settings it takes me to the typical black screen then the opera helpdesk stuff.

Now i cant go into settings to check what sofware version it had.

Any ideas what i should do guys?

Full brick

originally it was a full brick where it wouldn't display video. I was just going to use boot mii to make another nanback up for this guide.>>> Play VC/wiiware via iso forwarders <<<

anyways i had forgotten i needed to put the bootmii folder back on to the sd from when i made the original nand/key back up. So i couldn't remember this atm and went to wii brew and got the hackmii installer file. I loaded in to priiloader (which i can still access even now) and installed the boot.elf and miniboot.elf files in a hope to run the hackmii installer to reinstall bootmii. I was trying to reinstall because when i went to homebrew channel it would't load bootmii after hitt (home) and selecting to load bootmii.

So after this i had no system menu and it wouldn't out put video to the tv. So I do have the original Bootmii files w/ the key/nand files i made.

I tried to use these guides with no luck:

preloader/priiloader brick fix - the problem i ran into here was the nus was giving errors after downloading the first few files for ios60-64-v6174. So i tried to put on sd card and the usb load and it still won't find them and install. They are placed in the root of the sd as sd:/ios-60-64-v6174.wad and ios70-64-v6687.wad as well as in sd:/wad/. I did this on the sd card and usb device and it still fails to find them. so since i cant dl from nus or load from sd/usb i looked for another guide.

I used this guide next:

OH SH*T: Black Screen of WII!!! - I tried to do step one loading the bootmii files that i first backed up and put them on the sd card. i can load bootmii and try to load the nand/keys to do a restore and i see the part where it wants me to enter the KONAMI code. well i have a new wii and no gc ports or a gc controller for that matter so i can't do anything here to restore my nand.

So this is where i'm at stuck completely.

To recap:

-I CAN load Priiloader:

-I DO have my original keys/nand and bootmii folder.

Currently I was able to get it to load straight into homebrew channel if i don't hold reset to load the priiloader.

What do i do now?

thankls for any help

Freezes on Health and Safety Screen, No Press "A"

Hi guys,

Thanks in advance for your help.

In addition to the freezing on Health and Safety screen sometimes it just displays the System Files are corrupted message.

I bought the thing broken hoping to fix it because I had heard the "System Files Corruted Error" is easy to fix. But now I've got that locking up on the safety screen too.

I found a few guides on fixing these issues here, but they usually invole having priloader or something installed previously and I'm not sure what this Wii has as it won't boot. How do I proceed if I assume the Wii is virginal?

Thanks again.

Semi Bricked..system files corrupted, can't backup NAND, can't load HackMii installer

OK, I could use some help here. My Wii has been soft-modded for a while, but now things are getting strange. HBC and other softmod apps were freezing or going to blackscreen, so i started trying to update (at first with ModMii and then other tools) and am now at the point where i have no clue how to proceed.

I can boot into the system fine (system is 4.2U) although everytime I boot into the system i get the message 'Unable to Load Mii Channel Data). Also when i try to go to the Wii settings i get the message that my system files are corrupted.

I can run BannerBomb to get to Multi-Mod-Manager v13.4. From MMM the ModMii instructions told me to install 6 WAD files (IOS31-64-v3608, IOS33-64-v3608, IOS34-64-v3608, IOS35-64-v3608, IOS36-64-v3608, and IOS58-64-v6176). Doing this works fine for 5 of them, but one fails. I get a failure on IOS36-64-v3608.wad - next to the file it states 'Title (-1035)'.

Because the IOS36 wad failed, i tried the 'Install & Patch IOS36' function from MMM. This starts to run and then freezes during the operation.

Using the 'Display Wii System Info' function on MMM, it tells me I am on System Menu 4.2U on IOS70 (when trying to exit out of this screen, my system hangs, forces me to reboot).

I can use App Manager to try to load apps from MMM, but they don't work correctly. I tried running SysCheck, I tell it to check all IOS, it starts and hangs on the first step (Testing IOS9 vulnerabilities). HackMii installer doesn't load, i get a black screen with a few green lines throughout the screen. Dop-Mii loads to a black screen.

I can get into priiLoader or BootMii ... but it doesn't seem to do me any good. When i try to take a NAND backup from BootMii, it works for a while, i get a few messages regarding bad blocks, and then it hangs.

Specs from priiloader: IOS v70, Systemmenu v481, priiloader v0.4 (r78)

Specs from BootMii: BootMii v1.2, SysMenu: 4.2U boot1b boot2v2

Really, I just want to get HBC installed (somewhere in the process of messing with this stuff it was removed) and running again. The DVD-drive on the Wii is shot, but i was hoping that I could get homebrew back up and running. Is there anything i can do to get HBC running again?

A college gave me his old Wii that was "bricked" It has an chip but dunno the brand of the chip. Wii starts and getting to "press a to continue screen. it is a custom health screen just the text and a wii with blue smoke (identify chip with screen?) A friend borrow me his savemii dongle and original NSMB disc. When i boot with the dongle it says 3.3 Usa, but it is an PAL Wii LEH209874723. I tried stick in the mario disc when i booted with the dongle disc spin up and screen become black. Controller sync fine but i cant get in to maintence mode. tried put priloader on a sd card and boot with reset button hold, nothing happen. So is there anything i can do or just throw it away?

Wii 4.3U Brick HELP!!!

Hello I am REALLY new here since I need some help with my bricked wii. So lets start off at the beginning. I installed everything correctly with bootmii under boot2. I do not know if I installed priiloader or some other stuff since this quite awhile ago. Since then I have had no problems until the other day when I played WiiPlay for the first time after softmodding. After completing the cow race it gave me a message "results could not be saved. Continue?" I clicked "no" and then the wii went black. I tried turning it off and that didnt work so I unplugged it and left it for awhile. I went back turned it on and got the Safty message "hit A to continue" I hit A and then the screen goes black. Judging by the info I have researched I eaither have a low-level brick or a full brick. I tried redoing it with these instructions

http://www.wiihacks.com/bricked-wii-...tion-here.html

Did evrything and re-installed the ios and the system menue correctly under ios 300. I restarted the wii but still got the black screen after the safty screen. I REALLY need some help. It might sound kinda rediculous but this wii has had quite a bit of sentimental value and would like to get it running.

Thanks

Low level brick/Fully bricked Wi/Corrupt NAND Help Please?

So being the idiot I am yesterday and I of course take full responsibility for this. I decided to go ahead and format my Wii with HBC and cIOS on there (now as far as I know some people's Wii's brick when they have stuff like this on) as I was having problems with IOS defaulting and making apps not work within HBC. Anyways so I preceded to format and everything went fine, letterbombed the Wii to get HBC back up and got bootmii going so I could restore my NAND. Here's the stupid part I was restoring the Wii with RestoreMii when my laptop battery was warning me etc so I went to go plug it in and realised that whilst RestoreMii was doing it's thing I unplugged it...yes I unplugged it like an idiot not thinking that was the plug socket as I have another one spare.

So at this point I have a Wii on 4.3e that turns on and the disc drive will flash once and make noise depending on if the disc is in. There is no output onto the television and I've tried SaveMiiFrii (unless I'm timing it wrong and a third party controller makes all the difference) and I've tried loading a preloader (didn't have BootMii as boot2 cause I didn't know how I only had it as an IOS) neither have worked and I'm stuck guessing its a corrupt NAND.

Any suggestions at this point to help me would be appreciated even if its on the lines of getting a modchip I don't mind doing it I just don't wanna replace the motherboard to be honest.

Cboot2 freezes while its "starting .DOL"

Many months ago I had softmodded my wii using LetterBomb. Everything went according to plan. Backed up all of my games, ran with a USBLoader, etc.

About a month or two ago, my Wii stopped booting. The disc tray would flash and priiloader wouldn't work. So I reformatted my SD card. Now my Wii will start with cboot2, but when it gets down to the "starting .DOL" message, nothing else happens. I was running system menu 4.1u. Would downgrading/upgrading the system menu help at all?

4.1U/Bootmii/boot2 Totally Bricked

I'll start at the beginning so please bear with me. My Wii is a launch Wii. It's been somewhat messed up since day 1. I noticed game freezes occasionally and I couldn't turn off my Wii, save for unplugging it. From what I'd heard asking around it seemed like this issue was quite common. I didn't do anything about it. In retrospect I should have sent it in for repair...

In a pathetic attempt to self-repair (was out of warranty then) I softmodded a long time ago (bannerbomb v1), and installed Bootmii in boot2. It worked fine for a while but eventually it pooped in the middle of playing Animal Crossing. I own the game. I got the black screen of death. Tried recovering the nand, was able to access Bootmii. Wasn't able to do anything from there. No HBC access, no sys menu, nothing would run from SD. I gave up.

In July I think it was I used the nand formatter following this guide:
http://www.wiihacks.com/bricked-wii-...-your-wii.html

and used this guide to unbrick:
http://www.wiihacks.com/bricked-wii-...tion-here.html

I followed the then current guide to redo everything. It worked fine but I couldn't install any VC/WiiWare games at all. It would black screen if I did.

Last night I followed this guide from the start:
http://www.wiihacks.com/recommended-...d-any-wii.html

and it worked. I was able to install my VC/WiiWare games. I was playing FFCC: MLAK and it froze when I saved on day 2. I let it go for a while and nothing happened. Wasn't able to turn off my Wii either. Had to unplug it. I unplugged it from both the Wii and the power source for 5 minutes. When I plugged it back in, I didn't get a signal to my tv.

I put my Bootmii files on a fresh SD card and loaded it up. I was able to get Bootmii but no HBC, no system menu, nothing. I tried using the "other desperate options boot2" from the Softmod ANY Wii guide and nothing. The only thing I can do is load up bootmii. I tried recovering my nand, nothing. I tried recovering my previous, clean nand and nothing. Nothing will run from the SD at all. No HBC, no system menu, nothing to work with. Since I can't get anything to run from SD I can't do anything about it.

Any suggestions? The only option that seems left to me is to use the nand formatter and start from scratch. Of course this may not be my only option which is why I'm posting. I'd be grateful for any advice. Even if that advice is "sounds like hardware failure, get a new one".

Bricked WII while softmod.

I've brick my wii while sofmod. I was following the tutorial http://www.wiihacks.com/recommended-...d-any-wii.html and i screw up.
I was doing this part
"You should be in the Homebrew Channel
Launch Priiloader (the first one is 0.7, the second 0.8 beta 4)
Priiloader Installer will load
Read the warning- Press +/A to install
When finished the HBC should load.
Hold reset on the wii console, keep holding reset - priiloader will load
****If the wii freezes, hold the power down for 10sec.****
****Only install priiloader once, you need to hold reset to load priiloader****"
I was in Homebrew Channel and i press reset instead of launch Priiloader. (yes i know :dft005:) the screen got dark and I could not do anything so i unplug wii and turned back on. Now it powers up, the dvd light blinks one time but there is no output video.

What can i do?

hi
Two days ago , i was trying to turn on my wii after one month that she was turned off , i noticed that she had the same symptoms of a full brick ( black screen , remotes can't connect , green power light , dvd reader with light) .
The last time that i turned on my wii , i didn't went to menu because i had not battery in remotes to press the A button , so i turned it off , untill 2 days ago when i noticed this problem . So my question is , is this a normal full brick ? i had a softmode installed , but the true is that i can't remember if i had bootmii instaled , because i did this like 1 year ago ... and the only way that i read to solve this problem , is by a preloader ... is there any other way to fix this? can be a hardware problem? pls help

Bricked Wii 4.3E Help

Ok, so my Nintendo Wii 4.3E is bricked with no boot2. I had Priiloader installed but as I installed a Wii Theme the Priiloader disapeared and I am stuck with a black screen. I decided I want to buy a ModChip, and after thorough searching I have found that the WiiKey Fusion is compatible with my Wii. However, once I install the modchip, how do I boot a disc with Homebrew burnt on it?

Suggestions on broken Wii

Okay, so inherited a Wii that is currently being used as a doorstop. I am not sure the history if it. It may or may not have been modded. When you plug it in, if powers on no problem. But it does not produce any audio/video. I have tried different a/v component cables and no luck. Also, when trying to turn the Wii off, you have to hold the the button down for what seems like any extra long time to get it to power down, and it goes to Red. Should I just scrap it or does anyone have any other trouble shooting ideas for me?

No channel Screen after adding WAD

OK so here is my problem i got a brand new softmodded wii 4.3u firmware, i installed HBC with USB Loader GX and everything was working fine with the games i had on my external usb hard drive. One thing i decided to do is add a channel for all the games i got on my USB hard drive using Wad manager so everything went fine except that after rebooting my wii it's now kind of half bricked. I mean that i got the first screen about the health and security warming and i able to press the A button on the wiio remote but after that i can hear the starting music of the system menu then nothing just a black screen.

I am able to load the priiloader buy pressinf the reset button on the wii after the power button but i don't know what to do next. Another info is that i have a backup of the nand.

Some help will really be appreciated.

Thanks.

Bricked Wii...don't know why

Try to bare with me, I'm as new to this as you can get. I've owned a Wii for a week, hacked it using a guide a friend gave me. I'll try to give you as much info as I can. It's a 4.3U. I used letterbomb and installed bootmii and preloader. Did the backup thing. I was using a USB drive, fat formatted, USB loader gx, playing wbfs files. I downloaded a few new games and wanted to test them out to see if they worked because some of the games I had downloaded we not loading, the system would crash and I'd have to shut it down and turn it on again. So, I tried to load a game, it crashed, I turned it off and on again and was greeted with a black screen. I've tried several times to get into preloader by holding reset and turning the power on but it's not working. Nothing but a black screen. I wasn't messing with channels of themes or system stuff, only trying to load a game. Not sure what happened or what I should do, any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm not exactly sure what recent autoboot discs there are for any newer Wii updates. I ran my SaveMii and the current version it shows on the black screen I have is 4.2.

Any suggestions?

Bricked Wii with only Preloader showing????

Sorry its a bit of a long post but please read it I need help with what to do

About 3 years ago now I got our wii soft modded all was good and all of my games played. Recently we purchased Just Dance 4, put it in to the wii and nothing happened it did not load at all, only a black screen was shown. Upon reading the box I saw it saying that the latest version of the wii ios was needed. I then went to find out what version the wii had and saw 3.2E (I think this was the right version as I live in Australia using PAL). When the wii was modded they specifically said not to update as it would wipe it. I decided to do the update as really the only games I played were the ones I legit bought funnily enough.

I connected to my Wi-Fi went through everything and began the update. It was very slow at first but started to go and then it stopped saying the wifi had dropped out and showed error code 32004 which on Nintendo website states this “It has been found that this Error Code may appear during a Wii System Update if a Wii console has been modified to run unofficial software. If your Wii console has been modified to run unofficial software, we are unable to provide additional support for your Wii System Update issue”. Seems to apply here.

On this error it said to click ok and it would return you to the wii menu I did and that’s when this came up Preloader 0.28 imagesCA46T2Q3.jpgnot knowing what it was a shut it down and started it again same screen. (Note this can’t be bypassed it’s all I can get to and I didn’t install this on the machine Im thinking the people who modded it may have).

That’s where I am now, I have started doing some research about and have been thrown a bunch of names all have mii and wii in them to fix this as well as all sorts of ios files and talk about partial/semi, full and banner bricks.

Could some please give me some insight in to this and what I am able to do to fix this problem?

Thanks

James
